How do we formulate ruminant diets?

Using our unique system of feed and forage analysis, diets are formulated using software called BioParaMilk. This software incorporates a model of liquid flow and digestion in the ruminant that predicts nutrient absorption from the rumen and small intestines every six minutes, 24 hours a day.

Based on a description of cow type and the rate of digestion of feed in the rumen, BioParaMilk predicts the DMI of a diet and uses this to predict animal performance and milk yield. Because prediction of DMI is so crucial in determining the required energy density of a ration, the ability of BioParaMilk to predict DMI to +/- 0.5kgDM/day enables nutritionists and farmers to:
